Case Studies Waste & Recycling Future Electronics

Future Electronics

The challenge

Future Electronics is an international distributor of electronic and electro-mechanical components, with a stylish and modern group of UK head office buildings based in Egham in Surrey. The Future Electronics HQ is based over three buildings, including their European HQ and European Assembly and Distribution Plant.

MAR provide several soft services for Future Electronics and are particularly proud of the jointly developed and implemented Waste Management Policy.

The solution

After reviewing the client’s existing processes MAR Facilities Management advised how best to achieve Future’s objectives and produced a range of internal communication materials including staff guidance presentations, explanatory leaflets and posters.

Part of our strategy was to provide waste management services through one point of contact for all three buildings. These are delivered via a number of containers from compactors through to skips and wheelie bins, which collect different waste streams. This includes general waste, shrink wrap, mixed recyclables and waste materials such as paper, wood, metal, food, Hazardous and WEEE items.

We have also worked in partnership with Future Electronics to reduce the company’s overall carbon footprint and have successfully introduced a number of initiatives which has created environmental improvements.  For instance, these include the controlled use of paper products reducing product waste and cost, using paper towels and tissues made from 100% recycled fibres meeting EPA guidelines for post-consumer waste content, and introducing controlled usage dispensers to reduce paper products on site and save money.

MAR has introduced environmentally friendly alternatives to conventional cleaning materials and we now use Ecolabel products across as many sites as possible.

The contract is managed locally with agreed monthly, minuted KPI’s and SLA’s in place. These have a high 95% pass threshold and are designed not only to meet exacting standards in the services we deliver but encourage innovation and proactivity. The KPI’s also assess our training, Health & Safety, environmental impact, customer complaints and budgetary performance.

We have consistently performed above expectations for the time that we have held this contract and regard Future as a great example of an integrated approach.
